Map

February 2016. Watching Brief.
Maintaining during drainage works, including creation of new silt trap.
A north-north-east to south-south-west aligned ditch with a charcoal-flecked lower fill was encountered at the western end of the site. Although this feature produced no dating evidence, its alignment and the nature of its fills suggested it was potentially of some age.
Natural deposits were encountered at much lower level at the eastern end of the site, although it was unclear whether the overlying material represented a subsoil or the fill of a feature of some kind.
No unstratified finds were recovered.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2022.124).
