Map

May 2025. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
The single trench excavated revealed no archaeologically-significant remains. The topsoil lay directly above the natural geological deposits, the surface of which was disturbed by plough scars and areas of probable root disturbance. A possible late medieval brick fragment and several post-medieval roof tiles were recovered from these patches of disturbed ground.
Unstratified finds recovered from the topsoil included a post-medieval pottery sherd, late post-medieval to modern pottery sherds, a Victorian glass vase or bowl fragment, a Middle Saxon discoidal mount, a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy ring and various other metal objects of 19th- to 20th-century date.
See report (S1) for further details.
