NHER 69838 (Find Spot record) - Late Saxon, medieval to post-medieval and post-medieval to modern finds

July 2011. Test Pit.
Excavation of single test pit by local school children as part of the Higher Education Field Academy (HEFA) programme run by Access Cambridge Archaeology.
This test pit (ACL/11/4) was located at [1] and excavated to natural geological deposits, which were encountered at a depth of 0.70m. Finds recovered included:
5 Late Saxon pottery sherds.
8 medieval pottery sherds (all early medieval ware).
1 late medieval/early post-medieval pottery sherd.
4 post-medieval pottery sherds.
2 late post-medieval/modern pottery sherds.
This test pit also produced a range of other finds that were not subject to specialist examination, the majority of which are either of probable late post-medieval to modern date or inherently undatable. These additional objects include a flat tile fragment, 3 unidentified ceramic building material fragments, single pieces of bottle and container glass, a corroded iron lump and 2 burnt stones.
