Summary

In 2011 an archaeological test pit was excavated at this location with the help of local school children. The small number of finds recovered included medieval and late post-medieval/modern pottery sherds, pieces of post-medieval clay tobacco pipe and a fragments of undated ceramic building material.

July 2011. Test Pit.
Excavation of single test pit by local school children as part of the Higher Education Field Academy (HEFA) programme run by Access Cambridge Archaeology.
This test pit (ACL/11/5) was located at [1] and excavated to natural geological deposits, which were encountered at the relatively shallow depth of 0.40m. The small number of finds recovered included:
2 medieval pottery sherds.
2 post-medieval clay tobacco pipe stem fragments.
1 late post-medieval/modern pottery sherd.
The test pit also produced a small number of undated ceramic building material fragments.
