Summary

In 2013 an archaeological test pit was excavated at this location with the help of local school children. Finds recovered included small amounts of Roman, Late Saxon, medieval, late medieval/early post-medieval and post-medieval pottery and post-medieval clay tobacco pipe fragments. The bulk of the pottery recovered was though late post-medieval/modern and it is likely that the majority of the other objects recovered were of a similarly recent date, including numerous unidentified ceramic building material fragments.
