Full Description
May 2020-January 2021. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of onshore cable for Norfolk Vanguard and Boreas Offshore Wind Farms (Area F320).
This survey identified little of potential archaeological interest. Although a north-east to south-west aligned linear anomaly is likely to represent an infilled ditch it can be seen to correspond with a former field boundary depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map (S1).
The majority of the small discrete anomalies recorded are probably natural in origin, while scattered discrete dipolar 'spikes' were probably caused by ferrous material on or close to the surface - most likely modern debris.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.

October 2020-June 2021. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of onshore cable for Norfolk Vanguard and Boreas Offshore Wind Farms (Area F320; Trench 320).
The single trench excavated at this location was placed to coincide with the north-east to south-west aligned linear anomaly recorded by the preceding geophysical and revealed a corresponding ditch. This feature produced no dating evidence, but, as noted above, it can be seen to coincide with a former field boundary depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map (S1).
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 20 May 2026.
