Full Description
May 1979. Stray Find.
Various finds, the majority from two embankments on the new A10 re-alignment. The soil for these embankments had come from a sand and carstone hill which the new road was cut through. The finds found are as follows:
60 Mesolithic and undatable prehistoric flints, mostly blades (2cm-7cm long) but also scrapers, retouched flakes, microburins and 1 "fine" microlith. Some are patinated. See finder's drawings (S1).
6 ?prehistoric pottery sherds and 'pot boilers' [burnt flints].
Medieval pottery sherds.
See letter from finder in file.
Grid reference provided by finder.
A. Rogerson (NAU) 15 November 1988. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 29 August 2013.
