Full Description
Autumn 1988. Metal detecting finds from spoilheap from west half of bypass.
Four flint flakes.
One Oxon mortarium.
Four Roman greyware sherds.
Five medieval unglazed sherds.
One bowl rim. Hand-made, dark grey, coarse sandy, Iron Age or Early Saxon.
1st to 2nd century illegible As. Identified by D. Gurney (NAU).
Bronze fragment medieval purse frame. One hole for attachment of cloth. Hole at one end for purse bar.
Bronze quatrilobate mount. Two spikes on reverse. 16th century.
Bronze buckle with moulded tongue-rest. 13th century.
Bronze medieval shield-shaped stud. Enamel? traces.
Bronze gilt buckle fragment, medieval.
Bronze thimble, medieval.
Bronze coin weight. Dutch? 16th century. 3.4 g.
Three bronze buckles. 16th century.
Penny Edward I(?) CIVITAS CANTOR (Canterbury).
