February 1989. Metal detecting.
9th century copper alloy strap end, broken and perhaps reused - two holes above animal head. The animal head is very finely modelled with deep cut ears. Field in centre of strap end decorated with foliage motif (two scrolls?) possibly with niello inlay. Rubbed edges.
