Summary

This area is described as a deer park in a survey of AD 1251. A rectangular cropmark can be seen on aerial cropmarks of this area. Part of Back Lane that follows the course of the deer park boundary is a very old road, embanked and ditched.

Area of deer park mentioned in survey of AD 1251. A rectangular cropmark was seen somewhere in this area in 1989 from aircraft by [1].

Section of Back Lane that follows course of park pale from Gooch's Cottages to farm to south west now overgrown and abandoned but clearly a very old road, embanked and ditched. Local tradition that this is the 'old Norwich Road'.
