December 1994 - January 1995. Metal detecting.
Medieval gilded copper alloy circular mount (diameter 21mm) with 4 pierced lobes placed symetrically (making total diameter 28mm). Quadruped with raised front paw in low relief, eating its own tail which ends in a leaf. Ribs of animal are shown. Lovely, very unusual. 12th/13th century.
