Summary

A Second World War Type 22 pillbox can be seen as a structure on the 1940s aerial photographs and has been recorded from field visits. The pillbox had been suggested to have been demolished; However, the pillbox is still visible as a structure on recent (2020) aerial photographs within an area of modern housing.

Common, type 22 pill box on high ground northeast of Burgh Road.
May have been demolished.

November 2004.
As suggested this has been destroyed and no trace remains. There is a concrete road approaching the site from the south and various pieces of broken concrete are stacked beside it and overgrown.

Local resident reports this pillbox is still extant.

Extant pillbox is at TG20142687. It is not clear whether Kent's record relates to this pillbox, or whether the remains at TG20262679 represent a separate, demolished pillbox.

A Second World War Type 22 pillbox (see above) can be seen as a structure on the 1940s aerial photographs (S2). The pillbox is also seen well on the 1970s aerial photographs (S3) and is still visible as a structure on recent (2020) aerial photographs (S4) within an area of modern housing. The monument polygon has been updated to the position of the feature as seen on the aerial photographs.
