Summary

Prehistoric burnt flints and fragments of tile dating from the Roman to the post medieval periods were found during a fieldwalking survey carried out by Network Archaeology in 1998 in advance of the construction of a new pipeline. A possible Iron Age well was excavated in association with fire-cracked flint deposits during a subsequent watching brief in 1999. Metal-detecting at this location in 2024 recovered an Early/Middle Bronze Age socketed spearhead; a Late Iron Age/Roman penannular brooch and a medieval gold finger ring.
