Summary

An unusual Late Iron Age strainer bowl spout in the form of an animal or fish head was found at this location before 1991. Sporadic metal-detecting between 1998 and 2023 has recovered Roman coins and a range of other metal objects, including Late Bronze Age sword blade fragments; a Late Iron Age/Roman brooch; Roman brooches, horse-harness pendants, a furniture knob, strap end, mount and patera or skillet handle; a potentially Roman loop from a swivel and possible pin shaft; a medieval copper alloy seal matrix and a post-medieval dress fastener or toggle and harness mount. The finds come from the site of a Late Iron Age to Roman settlement (NHER 26626).
