Full Description
March/ April 1999. Metal detecting.
Propellor shaped belt stiffener made of flat cast bronze, the centre has a rounded lobe decorated with a single ring-and-dot. To either side are triangular lobes (one now largely missing). The surviving lobe has a large circular rivet hole and what seems to be nicks along the lower edge with a larger central notch. Corrosion obscures the detail. From an official or military belt set, very late Roman (late 4th century AD/early 5th century AD)
One Roman coin, see list in file.
A. Rogerson (NLA), 7 July 1999.
