Full Description
February 2001. Norfolk NMP.
A breakwater more than 100m long is depicted on a 1905 map (S1), starting at Tf 8482 4572 and running north northeast. A fragmented dark structure is visible on this alignment on 1974 aerial photography (S2) and it would appear that this is what remains of the breakwater. This was part of the sea defences in this area and it would have worked with the smalller breakwaters further down Overy Creek (NHER 26674). This feature is definitely modern and probably existed in about 1900, but whether or not it could also be classed as post medieval is not clear.
