Summary

This disused early 19th century lime washed brick pump house was used for raising water to the gardens of Clermont. It is a single storey building with a pyramidal slate roof. There is a Gothic style east window. Inside is an iron breast shot waterwheel that drove a rare three-throw pump designed by Joseph Bramah.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Disused pumphouse for raising water to gardens of Clermont Hall. Early 19th century. Limewashed brick with some stone dressings. Slate roof. Square in plan. Single storey. Three-bay façade of a doorway with flanking windows. Two-centred arches to openings with raised keystones and imposts in stone."
