Summary

Sewer trench digging at this location in 1970 discovered the lower part of a medieval lime kiln similar to the one existing kiln in Sprowston Road.

The remains of the kiln can be seen in what is now a large Victorian era garden, set inside the chalk pit which supplied the kiln.
