Summary

This location was marked on a 1905 Ordnance Survey map as the site of a brick kiln. The area is now a flat stubble field with no trace of the kiln, although it is possible that it was located in the wood to the west rather than here.

Map

3 September 1980. Visit by E. Rose (NAU).
Brick kiln. Marked on (S1) in 1905, but not before. Kiln and washing mill remain, according to NIAS records (undated). Spot marked on (S1) is now a flat stubble field with no trace of kiln. Man found here who said he was the landowner claimed the brickworks was elsewhere, but would not say where or give permission to visit it! Probably in wood just to west.
