Full Description
South Walsham Marshes.
May 1979. Visited.
Brick tower, secured by iron tieband. Remains of boat shaped cap, now mostly replaced in corrugated iron. This must be recent as cap appears in (S1)'s photograph. Two stocks remain, with traces of Cubitt's patent sails. Scoop wheel.
Upper windows glazed (not original) and apparently still kept in some sort of repair.
See (S2) which shows a drainage mill on this site.
E. Rose (NAU), 3 May 1979.
(S3) notes cast iron sheer extensions, one of only two remaining examples on Norfolk Broads.
E. Rose (NAU), 11 December 1985.
Rebuilt by William T England whose name is cast into one of the iron supports with the date 1921 (S4).
E. Rose (NLA), 29 November 2005.
