Linear cropmark - old road?

If so, very interesting as it is pre 1797. (S2) shows the roads on their present courses.

Feature is soilmark, not cropmark as previously indicated, and appears to be remnant of hollow way at TM 4249 9735 to 4255 9741, and also possibly between TM 4225 9710 to TM 4234 9720.
The mark is also confused by two ploughed out banks (north to south) from TM 4233 9721 and TM 4244 9730 and soil spread at TM 4210 9702.

Cropmarks of a possible medieval or earlier road are visible on aerial photographs ((S3)-(S5)). Cropmarks and soilmarks of a broad linear feature are present on a south-west to north-east alignment. It is likely that they relate to a former road, at least part of which may have existed as a hollow way. This road is not shown on Faden’s 1797 county map (S2) and is likely to be of medieval or earlier date.
