Summary

In 1980 a collared urn was recovered and donated to the NCM. It may in fact be the one that derived from the Bergh Apton barrow (NHER 10308) dug by Manning. A source states 'I have in my possession a box of fragments of two British cinerary urns discovered by Canon Manning. In them are lumps of black earth and ashes buried in this earth are many portions of ornaments.'

This is a collared urn and is probably in fact that from the Berghapton barrow NHER 10308 dug by Manning.
Compiled by A. Lawson (NAU), 1977.

In (S1) [2] states "I have in my possession a box of fragments of two British cinerary urns discovered by Canon Manning. In them are lumps of black earth and ashes buried in this earth are many portions of ornaments." Author implies he believes the urns to have been found near Clynt Hills (TM 183 800) which would tie in with a Frenze provenance. If the urn in NCM is really from Bergh Apton, could it have become confused with the Frenze urn at some time?
E. Rose (NAU), 28 January 1997.
