Summary

At some time prior to March 1939 a Palaeolithic flint handaxe was dredged from the River Wissey. The exact location of this discovery is not known, although it was reported as being somewhere between Lynford and Stoke Ferry.

Dredged from River Wissey between Lynford and Stoke Ferry:
1 Palaeolithic Acheulean handaxe. Unpatinated and unrolled. Seen by R. R. Clarke in 1939.

Little can be said regarding the possible provenace of this object, Lynford and Stoke Ferry being 12km apart.
This handaxe is listed in (S2) and also noted on (S3) and in (S4), (S5) and (S6), although no additional information is given.
