Full Description
Ploughed out barrow.
RAF/Ordnance Survey air photograph.
Possible trace in grassed field. Too indistinct to measure.
A.J. Lawson (NAU), 17 June 1976.
1987 to 1988. Found in fieldwalking site.
Six flint flakes, one scraper.
Two natural flints retouched.
Identified by J.J. Wymer (NAU).
W. Milligan (NCM), 11 March 1988.
16 December 1983. Visited by J. Wymer (NAU).
Possible barrow; arable land; slight swelling visible; no sherds or flints.
December 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The ploughed out barrow is visible as a parchmark on the 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1). It appears to measure 17m in diameter. A much larger circular is visible at this location on the 1994 OS aerial photographs (S2). However the marks are confused with possible geological patterning and therefore were not extended past the dimensions visible on the earlier images. It may, however, be indicative of the mound material being further spread by the plough.
S. Massey (NMP), 19 December 2002.
