Summary

A Roman timber lined well, which was excavated in 1976. Roman pottery, a spoon, bone pins and a leather sandal were found in the well.

Full Description

May 1976.
Found in building swimming pool on site of outbuilding near Oxnead Mill.
Roman timber lined well, about 1.06m square, with corner posts.
At least 2.4m deep.
Filling includes leather sandal and scraps, Samian, much grey ware, iron ladle (S16), wooden object, 2 bone pins and Dorset black burnished ware, 3rd century?
