Summary

A Mesolithic flint tranchet adze was ploughed up here in 1976. Metal-detecting between 2014 and 2018 recovered a Mesolithic or later quarzite pebble macehead with 'hour-glass' perforation; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a medieval thimble and a post-medieval strap fitting.

Ploughed up on small sandy hillock:
1 Mesolithic chipped flint axe with apparent left-handed tranchet. Dimensions 16.8cm by 5.5cm. Triangular section. Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1976.377).

First reported in (S2) and subsequently described by R. Jacobi as a 'Norfolk-type' Mesolithic tranchet adze (S3).

Mesolithic to Early Bronze Age quartize pebble mace with 'hour-glass' perforation. These objects are not closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts.
