Full Description
23 August 1976. Excavation of septic tank, north of line of fen causeway as revised by R.R. Clarke (NCM), but on line as on (S1).
Watched by E. Rose (NAU) 23 August 1976.
Pit about 4.5m (15ft) x 2.1m (7ft): clay-soil with bands of blue silt to 1.8m (6ft) then wet blue clay to 3m (10ft). Tiny fragments of red and yellow brick, burnt material, iron?, building stone?, animal bones including cow tooth and skull, and sheep jawbone. No sign of road.
New house has been built to south of site - not observed because owner neglected to inform us - but on above stratification unlikely to have revealed anything - workmen said it did not.
E. Rose (NAU).
