Map

Barn.
Opposite west wall of Ridlington churchyard. Brick (renewed in part) in irregular Flemish bond. Thatched. Gable against road shaped, with small blocked window in apex and clamp irons forming date 1698 (unusual in that each iron forms two numbers on top of each other). Traces of another blocked window and chimney below?
E. Rose (NAU), 15 September 1976.

Listing (S1) describes roof as tiebeams, principals and two tiers butt purlins, collars, some straight windbracing below lower purlins.
Photographs in file.
E. Rose (NAU), 13 August 1986.

October 2001.
The blocked window in the apex of the gable now bears a plaque relating to the restoration in 1998.
At the foot of this wall, which has a flint plinth, are some large erratics lying loose.
E. Rose (NLA), 2 October 2001.

2003.
Photographs in file show that there were originally tall I-slits in the side walls of which at least one remains, others are blocked.
E. Rose (NLA), 10 June 2003.

Evidence supplied by North Norfolk District Council states that the open slit window is a modern reproduction, and may be removed by further alterations. The blocked slits however are original.
E. Rose (NLA), 7 July 2003.
