Full Description
Unusual brick house, a late variant of the lobby-entrance plan with living room and separately heated withdrawing room to one side of the stack and kitchen and dairy to the other; but throughout the beams are ornamentally moulded. Two occurrences of the date 1680 on fireplaces may well date the house although some of the decoration might seem a little earlier. Cellar, perhaps with an icehouse though probably not. Georgian remodelling to a very small degree. Unfortunate mid 20th century external 'restoration.'
To the west are two barns, one dated 1774, now converted to housing and delisted.
Road said to have been excavated in garden.
Report (S1), architectural plans (S2) and press cutting (S3) in file. Listed (S4).
E. Rose (NLA), 1 October 2004.
Building survey. September 2008.
Lobby entrance, two storey, tripartite house with dairy, built 1680. The cellar appears to be original .The roof would originally have been thatched.
See (S5) for further details,
H. White, (NLA), 3 December 2009.
