Full Description
1974. NAU air photography.
Cropmark of ring ditch; dark thick ring with central feature.
E. Rose (NAU), 19 October 1976.
1984.
Grid reference corrected from overlay.
April 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A cropmark of a oval enclosure or ring ditch of possible Bronze Age to Iron Age date is visible on aerial photographs (S1). The central grid reference for this cropmark has been amended from TM 3208 8898 to TM 3209 8899. The enclosure is sub-oval in plan with a 4m wide ditch and external dimensions of 39m by 32m. Internally there is a cropmark of an oval pit feature located towards the southwestern end of the enclosure. The pit measures approximately 10m by 9m in plan. Both the pit and the enclosure are cut by a modern field boundary. Although this cropmark was originally recorded as a ring ditch, it is probably too asymmetrical to be truly classed as such. However, it is possible that the enclosure is of Bronze Age or Iron Age date, but its function is unknown.
