Summary

No 5 is a 17th-century and later two-storey house with stone lettering in its façade giving a date of 1648. The other buildings in this group are somewhat later.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Nos 5 to 9 (consec). Nos 5 and 6, pair, No 5 with date and initials TRA 1648. Remainder somewhat later. Two storey and attics. Flint and brick. Near-flush frame sash windows with glazing bars (two altered). Pantiles. Interior: No 6, 17th-century roof members, ledged doors with wrought hinges, massive fireplaces covered.
Nos 1 and 2 [NHER 47672] and Nos 5 to 9 (consec) [NHER 11765] form a group with No 47 Freeman Street [NHER 23192]."

November 1976. Field Observation.
No 5 visited by E. Rose (NAU).
On 6 inch Ordnance Survey map, west end of isolated building marked south of end of Old Sea Wall. This house has in its flint façade 'TBA 1648' in stone letters about 90cm (3 feet) high, cut by a 19th century window.
Otherwise the building is unremarkable.
Traces of old blocked windows and a dentilled cornice under a pantiled roof.
