The cropmarks of trackways and boundaries of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs to the west of School Road, Buckenham (S1). The site is centred on TG 3635 0639.
The site consists of a series of single and double ditched linears running either parallel or perpendicular to the School Road. These features are likely to be the remains of field boundaries and trackways. The date of these features is uncertain. The shared alignment with the road could suggest a medieval to post medieval date, however the boundaries mapped clearly pre-date the post medieval layout depicted on the 1839 Beighton Tithe map (S2). The trackway referred to above was not mapped as it corresponded with a post medieval field boundary marked on the 1839 map. It is possible that these reveal an earlier medieval to post medieval layout. However, it is also possible, given the location of Roman finds in the general vicinity (NHER 39572), that they are Roman in date.

January 2024. Broads Hidden Heritage: Aerial Perspectives.
Cropmarks of trackways and boundaries additional to those described above are visible on Google Earth imagery from 2006 (S3). Some are undated, while others correspond with field boundaries depicted on 19th century maps, such as the Tithe Map (S4). The limits of the site have been expanded the additional features of unknown date [1].
