Summary

Beech Farmhouse, formerly known as Blackcar Farmhouse, is a 17th-century timber-framed and brick farmhouse with a Dutch gable. There is also a contemporary barn (NHER 65484).

17th-century timber-framed and brick farmhouse with Dutch gable. Contemporary barn, now tiled, formerly thatched.

Revised listing 1994 (S2) dates as early 18th-century house and barn. Off centre ridge stack two storeys. Later additions. Full height crosswing has shaped gable with internal stack. Barn has cart doors in one wall only.

Excerpt of current Listing Description:
"Farmhouse. Early 18th century. Timber-framed with brick north addition. Pantiled gabled roofs. Two storeys. Entrance front is to south...Brick ridge stack set to right. One storey and dormer attic addition runs east from gable, with an outshut attached to the south side...The entrance to this addition is via a timber door in the north side. A full-height two-storey cross wing abuts the north of the main block and terminates in a shaped gable carrying an internal gable-end stack. The entrance to this wing is through a timber door set to the left. One two-light casement above and a three-light 18th-century casement each floor right. One gabled dormer."

The barn to the south of the farmhouse was also listed Grade II in December 1950. This is now recorded separately as NHER 65484.
