Summary

This two-storey and attic building dates to the early 17th century. It has walls of painted brick and areas of pargetting, a pantile roof and a massive red brick chimney with six octagonal flues.

Listing Description:
Nos 35 and 36 (Fair Green House).
Early 17th century, altered, two storey and attic, two window, left, end, brick, painted, with front gable, mullion transom casements. Pargetting remains to gable with casement window. Centre and right portion, one storey and attic, two gabled dormers, Pargetted front in panels, wide door and mullion transom window. Pantile roof, massive red brick chimney with six octagonal flues with spiked capping and moulded base above drip moulds. One window on return in Denmark Street adjoining Waveney House. Nos 28 to 36 (consec) form a group facing the Green together with Nos 82 to 86 (consec) Denmark Street.

L shaped range of timber framed late 16th or early 17th century buildings, with large cluster of chimneys.

These cottages were apparently declared "…fit only for demolition in 1966" but were saved after consent had been given to restore them in 1968 (after Sir John Betjeman had referred to them in a newspaper article). The individual responsible for the restoration work received an award from the Norfolk Society in 1983.
