Summary

This two storey 17th century house is constructed of plastered timber-frame. It is a long range with pantiled gable-ended roofs, the east part with a steep pitch and attic window in the end gable. It may have began life as a cross-passage house with two service rooms and a solar stair, and has since been split into two dwellings.

Map

17th century timber framed thatched cottage of axial chimney type with opposing entrances.
(S1) in file.

Re-examination of (S1) shows that this, when planned, was a cross-passage house with two service rooms and solar stair but also with an offcentre stack and attached winding stair. RCHM believed this to be all one period 17th century, which is possible.
(S2) describes as restored 17th century house.
Now divided into two cottages, extended and modernised at unknown date. See (S3) in file.
E. Rose (NLA), 6 December 2004.
