Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting between 1977 and 1991 recovered a range of objects, including Roman, Saxon and medieval pottery fragments and Saxon, medieval and post medieval coins.

January 1977.
Field east of moated site. Stubble, on clay soil.
Concentration of twenty four Ipswich Ware sherds found 18.2m (20 yards) inside field gate, and elsewhere in field two Roman sherds and two sherds Thetford Ware.
Found after one morning's work.

Roman greywares, several Middle Saxon Ipswich Ware sherds (mainly from southwest corner of field).

Two sherds green glazed Grimston handles.
Medieval bronze buckle plate fragment, stamped borders.
13th century buckle with fragment of decorated plate, expanded tongue rest.

Post medieval cast bronze vessel rim fragment.
Post medieval decorated shoe buckle fragment.
