Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwork during the period 1977-90 revealed this as the site of a possible Roman settlement, a Middle to Late Saxon settlement, port and market and a medieval settlement. This site is located within the area of NHER 25962. Finds from this site include a prehistoric flint flake, Iron Age pottery sherds, Roman coins, part of an Early Saxon girdle hanger and buckle, Middle and Late Saxon brooches, pins and strap ends along with medieval pottery sherds.
