Full Description
30 March 1977.Visited.
Nos. 8-10 are architecturally one house, 17th century, with an elaborate shaped east gable, dentilled cornice, classical porch of about 1820. No. 12 has had an elaborate pedimented east gable but the pediment has been destroyed by a more recent chimney.
House has a string course but little else of interest.
Nos. 10-12 in good condition, no. 8 poor.
E. Rose (NAU).
(S1) suggests no. 12 is 18th century addition to others.
The above description is somewhat confused, partly due to the lack of numbers on the houses. The easternmost house is no 8 (not 12) and is listed as 19th century, not 18th; however (S1) also states the block was extended to the E in the 19th century, but later says the 19th century block is to the west; latter is incorrect. No 8 has a carriage arch but is of little interest. No 10 to the west has a shaped gable now dividing it from no 8, it is this house that has the doorcase mentioned.
Internally nos 10 and 12 are intermixed. A shaped, perhaps once pedimented gable is at the original junction of nos 10 and 12 but to which did it belong? No 12 has a platband and a modern shop front.
The interior of the present no 10 is one ground floor room with a coated beam, and an entrance hall said to have had stairs and a top light - present stairs are in later outshut.
Roof of original no 10 very interesting; 2 orders staggered tapered purlins - very staggered in fact, those in the south slope are not opposite those in the north! Windbraces to upper order. Later stud partition.

(S2) reports interiors all gutted in 1970s.
