Summary

A post medieval brickworks is marked at this location on a late 19th century Ordnance Survey map. A kiln and clay pit associated with it are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and 1968. The kiln was demolished between 1968 and 1978.

A kiln and clay pit associated with a former brickworks are visible on aerial photographs ((S2) and (S3)). These remains are located at TG 3753 3076. The brickworks is shown in detail on the 2nd edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map (S4) and consequently was not mapped as part of the NMP. The kiln, located at TG 37525 30740, was extant in July 1946 (S2). It was derelict by April 1968 (S3) and was demolished by 1978 (see site visit above).
