Summary

This early 19th century brick building has a central Doric porch. It has two storeys, three bays and sash windows set under rubbed brick arches. Many accounts confuse this property with Hapton House (NHER 18477) which is an entirely separate building.

Map

Confused in many accounts with Hapton House (NHER 18477).
Some accounts say this is an Elizabethan timber frame with a Jacobean facade.
(S1) wrote 'Hapton Hall was built to be a jointure house for W. Knievels widow of Ashwellthorpe perpetually'.
(S2) follows this, spelling the name Knevet, and says it was a manor house.
If (S1) was right this would put the date as late 15th/early 16th century. Not yet visited.

However, Listed Building description says this is an early 19th century brick house with Doric porch, and details submitted with planning application 1998 (in file) seem to support this. Possibly therefore the above details may indeed refer to Hapton House.
