Summary

Around 1930 a flint implement was found in this field that was originally published as an example of a polished Palaeolithic handaxe. This was subsequently reidentified as a probable core made on a broken Neolithic ground axehead fragment. Sometime before 1964 a Mesolithic tranchet axe was found, and in 2005 a small prehistoric flint blade was recovered at the same location.
