Summary

This three storey brick building with central five bay block and two single storey pavilions was built around 1750 for Robert Rogers, Mayor of Norwich 1758. The door has two engaged Ionic columns and there is an original door knocker and boot scraper. Inside are elaborate Rococo style plaster ceilings, some with remains of original painting and gold leaf.

Called St Clement's Hill by (S1). Very fine house around 1750, five bays, three storeys with topmost smallest. Ionic doorway with pediment. Two bay, two storey extensions with arched windows on ground floor and rusticated quoins. Gables show the very end of the shaped gable style, curving at front only. (S1) mentions curved staircase and plaster ceilings inside.
Good condition.

A handwritten note has been added to the Norfolk County Council copy of (S2) to state: Built by Roberts Rogers who acquired land on this site in 1747, 1756, 1758 and 1767. A. Yardy (HES), 29 January 2013.
