Summary

The farmhouse was built in the late 18th century or 19th century and was designed by S. Wyatt. The surrounding farm buildings were built between 1850 and 1856 for the Holkham Estate by the architect G. A. Dean. It is one of only four surviving examples of farmsteads by this architect. The buildings were mainly intended for the intensive fattening of cattle and have been commented on as 'highly functional' in comparison to his other designs for home farms.

The farm buildings were built 1850 to 1856 for Holkham Estate by G. A. Dean, author of 'The Land Steward' (1851). The farmhouse itself is probably late 18th century, by S. Wyatt. The buildings were mainly intended for the intensive fattening of cattle. Now derelict.

(S1) records as one of only four farms by Dean surviving. Buildings are 'highly functional' in comparison to his other designs for home farms.

The buildings are constructed from local red brick and pantile, although the cattle sheds are roofed in slate, probably a later addition. All windows and pillars in the cattle sheds are cast iron.
