Summary

In 1952 human bones were found during the laying of a sewer and in 1964 human bones and multi-period finds were discovered during gravel quarrying. Although the date of the human remains is not known, it has been suggested that some are Early Saxon. The artefacts collected include Roman pottery and animal bones.

Note to D. Gurney (NAU), in 1986, said that Dr Wells had dated the human bones to 6th century AD. 'One adult male interment had his head cut off and placed between his tibias. This was the only interment undisturbed' It also adds 'pottery, oysters, boar's tusk, piece of metal' found but does not give any date.
