Summary

In 1977 a number of Roman pottery sherds were found during the digging of foundations for a new house. The sherds belonged to at least at least twenty-one vessels including imitation butt-beaker, shouldered jars and fine ware bowls. The house now standing on site incorporates elements of medieval and post medieval timbers.

October 1977. In digging foundations for new house, mostly in 0.9m (3ft) length of west wall foundations, all close together.
Site is on west-facing slope with clear view over valley.
Early Roman sherds, at least twenty-one vessels including imitation butt-beaker, shouldered jars and fine ware bowls.
Some drawn NCM, (S1, S2 and S3) in the Illustration Library.
House is being built of modern brick, but with reused timbers from medieval and post medieval houses all over East Anglia.
