December 2010-January 2011. Geophysical survey.
A magnetometer survey was carried out in advance of plans for redevelopment.
Linear anomalies indicative of ditch features forming a trackway and field system were identfied. Some of these correspond to cropmarks previously recorded under this number and now recorded under NHER 65618 along with further features forming a large fragmented medieval to post-medieval field system. See also NHER 12982,NHER 65613, NHER 65614, NHER 65616, and NHER 65617 for further elements of this fields system.
It is of note that a number of the cropmark features did not return magnetic anomalies whilst some additonal magnetic anomalies were recorded indicating the presence of additional ditches not manifesting as cropmarks.
See report (S1) for further details.
S. Howard (HES), 12 June 2011. Amended H. Hamilton (HES), 22 February 2024.
