Map

1977. Stray Find.
Found while digging garden:
1 Palaeolithic fine triangular flint handaxe with blue-white patina. 120mm long, 61mm wide at butt. Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1978.36).
Information from (S1).
This handaxe is also noted in (S2), (S3) and (S4) although no additional information is given. Also mentioned in (S5).

This object was later examined by P. Robins (NCM) who noted that typologically there is no doubt that this is a handaxe and that the low level of patination (white over a grey flint) and unrolled condition must be related to the local conditions in which it had been maintained. See description in file and drawing (S6).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 24 June 2014.
