Summary

A Roman radiate coin, perhaps an Antoninianus of Constantius I, with an illegible reverse was found by metal detecting at this site. Pottery fragments from the Iron Age, Early Saxon and Middle Saxon periods were also found on the surface. These finds are part of a larger Roman to Late Saxon settlement and Early Saxon cemetery complex.

Full Description

Three body sherds of Ipswich Ware and one handmade rim.
Given to A. Rogerson (NAU) by finder 11 January 1978.

Iron Age and Early Saxon sherds from same site seen only briefly by A. Rogerson (NAU).
Ipswich Ware and handmade rim given to NCM January 1982.

December 1986. Metal detecting on arable.
Radiate coin. Antoninianus of Constantius I?, reverse illegible.
Falls within metal detecting scatter NHER 25765.
