Summary

Aerial photographs taken in 1976 and 2011 show the cropmarks of rectilinear enclosures, originally interpreted as a possible Roman marching camp. Photography in 1998 recorded a small ring ditch near to the rectangular enclosures, and this could possibly be Bronze Age in date.

In addition to the overlapping rectangular enclosures, there appears to be a small ring ditch, located at TG 1993 3659.
S. Massey (NLA) 9 October 2001.

31 December 2007. Vertical Aerial Photograph.
Faint cropmarks can be seen on Google Earth, that may represent the perimeter of the Roman Marching Camp.
See (S1) for further details
D. Lefeuvre (HES), 11 April 2011.

March 2015
Google Earth imagery from 2011 (S2) clearly shows the cropmarks of rectilinear enclosures orientated SW-NE with interior divisions, possibly field boundaries or farmstead enclosures. The cropmarks do not seem to show a Roman marching camp as previously recorded. Mapping amended to include enclosures to the north of the modern field boundary.
K. Powell (HES), 3 March 2015
