Summary

Aerial photography from 1976 recorded the cropmark of an undated trapedzoidal enclosure. Metal detecting in 1998 recovered a fragment of a pair of Middle Saxon bronze tweezers decorated with edge grooves and four ring-and-dots, as well as some Roman pottery sherds.

End of one arm of a pair of Middle Saxon bronze tweezers flaring from a fairly odd break to an inturned tip. Decorated with edge grooves and four ring-and-dots.

Two Roman greyware (one base and one body sherd), both largish sherds.

February 2026. HER Enhancement: Forestry Commission Project K.
The trapezoidal enclosure are visible on Esri Wayback imagery taken in 2011 (S3). An entrance can clearly be seen towards the southern end of the eastern side of the enclosure. It is also visible on APGB imagery taken in 2006 (S4), although the cropmark is not as clear.
Mapped extent of site amended and extended to south.
